Simon Smith is a Cornwall-based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer.

A performing musician for over 30 years, Simon has extensive musical experience across a breadth of genres with a multitude of instruments. Starting in traditional brass band, Simon has performed on a multitude of instruments in orchestral, jazz, big band, reggae, ska, soul, indie and funk idioms.

Though Simon is a multi-instrumentalist, you’ll most often find him performing as a singer/acoustic soloist. For livelier settings Simon will add percussion, played with his feet, to augment the upbeat style to suit the event. With powerful, stirring vocals, vocal harmonies and an engaging percussive, rhythmic guitar style, Simon is a popular performer in venues across the south west of England.

Simon’s upbeat performances are deservedly popular, but he is equally at home in a relaxed café-style setting playing a mellow set of laid-back tunes. Again, he adds vocal harmony along with a finger picking guitar style to suit the mood.

As well as writing and performing his own songs, Simon is an accomplished composer and arranger. His compositions and arrangements can be found in brass band rooms across the UK, his work featuring regularly in live public performances.

Simon remains active on trumpet and trombone, performing in local bands in venues across the south west and occasionally including brass in his solo performances where the opportunity arises.

Jack of all Trades

Simon Smith - Acoustic Soloist.

Simon is an accomplished vocalist and acoustic guitarist, performing across Cornwall and beyond. His comprehensive set list has a modern focus but can include songs from the last six decades. Simon includes many of his own songs during a performance, with added foot-operated percussion, vocal harmony and a trumpet - where appropriate.

Simon Smith - Song Writer.

Although Simon has been writing songs for many years, he has only begun to record his work quite recently. Much of what Simon writes about is day-to-day life, his own experiences and observations. Simon’s first album, consisting of ten songs, will be released in 2026.

Simon Smith - Composer/Arranger.

Simon’s musical background in the brass band world is extensive. Simon has written many original compositions and arrangements, almost all for full band. These works are regularly performed in public by brass bands across the country..

New EP To Be Released Soon

My first EP is a collection of songs written over a five year period, drawn from real life experiences. There’s a variety of styles included, demonstrating the breadth of genres I enjoy. Based on vocals and acoustic guitar with some light percussive beats, some songs are enhanced with vocal harmony and sustained horns. adding colour and texture to the mix
